It is well known that the Moon provides an exceptional low-noise environment ideal for GW detection, which is a great opportunity for breakthrough science and to close the gap between the observation bands of LISA and ground-based detectors. The challenge is to identify and realize feasible concepts for a first generation of lunar GW detectors, which would set the stage for technologically more demanding concepts to be realized in subsequent lunar GW detector generations. It is evident that some level of interaction between the existing GW detector collaborations and the newly forming lunar GW detector collaborations must happen.
On October 14 and 15 2021, the first international workshop dedicated to gravitational-wave astronomy from the Moon will be launched. It will commence a global effort for the development of revolutionary lunar gravitational-wave detector technologies.
